Chiropractic Care Edinburgh
Chiropractic is the third largest primary health care profession in the world after medicine and dentistry. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat conditions of the neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles and bones). Chiropractors use adjustments, sometimes referred to as manipulations, to restore normal movement to the spine and associated joints.
Your joints become restricted when exposed to physical stresses like sedentary lifestyles, excessive exercise and falls or injuries. Uncorrected joint stress can develop into chronic stiffness and pain. Adjustments are precise, controlled, gentle movements that improve joint motion, relax tight muscles and reduce nerve irritation. Essentially they help you to move better and feel better!
Chiropractors train for a minimum of four years to develop the requisite diagnostic and technical skills to perform safe, effective and pain-free adjustments.
Chiropractic adjustments are often associated with a popping noise. This is produced by a change in pressure in fluid within the joint. It is completely normal and harmless to hear this. The sound itself has no clinical benefits and is not the aim of treatment.
Your chiropractor has trained in many gentle techniques that have the same effectiveness as a traditional adjustment but do not involve fast movement of the joint or produce a popping noise. If you feel you would prefer these approaches then your chiropractor is more than happy to accommodate you. Just ask! We look forward to meeting you.
