How Much Does A Chiropractor Cost In Edinburgh?

Short answer: a first chiropractic appointment in Edinburgh, and across the UK, costs between about £50 and £150+, and follow-ups around £40 to £65.

At One Chiropractic, the initial consultation is £95, including treatment the same day where appropriate, and follow-ups are £55. We’re a specialist clinic for headaches, migraine, neck and jaw pain, and our prices reflect that.

Most clinics don’t explain their prices properly, and that makes comparing them harder than it should be. So here’s what you’re actually paying for, why prices vary, and how to work out what’s right for you.

Those numbers only tell you part of the story. Two clinics charging the same can be offering very different things.

Why chiropractor prices vary

Whether treatment is included. Some clinics include treatment in the first appointment. Others prefer to assess first and start treatment at a second visit, once they’ve reviewed their findings. Both are sound approaches, but it’s worth knowing which you’re booking so you can compare like with like.

Free introductory chats. Some clinics offer a free chat before a full examination. It’s a useful way to see whether a clinic feels right for you, though the examination itself is usually charged separately.

Appointment length. A first appointment can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. It’s worth checking how long you’ll have, and what’s covered in that time.

Experience and focus. A clinician with years of further training in a particular area, such as headaches, migraine or jaw pain, will usually charge more than a general clinic. It’s the same across healthcare: a private consultation with a consultant neurologist costs more than one with a GP, and an orthodontist charges more than a general dentist. You’re paying for depth of expertise in your specific problem. That’s the model at One Chiropractic: rather than treating everything, Paul focuses on the head, neck and jaw, backed by further training with world-leading clinicians in headache, migraine, TMJ and complex pain.

Packages. Some clinics offer blocks of sessions at a lower rate per visit. For long-standing problems that need several appointments, these can make care noticeably more affordable.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what’s driving your symptoms and how long you’ve had them.

Some people need only one or two sessions, particularly when a problem is recent. Symptoms that have been building for months or years usually take longer to settle. Paul will give you his view at your first appointment, and a clear plan with an end point rather than an open-ended course of treatment.

Alongside treatment, you’ll usually be given exercises and practical changes to how you work and move. That reduces how much treatment you need, and makes it less likely you’ll be back in six months with the same problem.

Is the cheapest chiropractor the best value?

Not necessarily. The real cost is the total you spend before the problem is actually sorted.

A cheaper session that eases the pain for a few days, repeated every few weeks for a year, costs far more than a course of care that finds the cause and fixes it. This matters most for problems that keep coming back, like recurring headaches, migraine, neck pain and jaw tension.

When comparing clinics, look at what’s included and how they plan to get you well, not just the price per visit.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Does the first appointment include treatment, or is that a separate visit?
  • How long is the first appointment?
  • Will I get a clear explanation of what’s causing my symptoms?
  • Are there packages, and am I under any obligation to buy one?
  • How many sessions do you expect I’ll need, and how will we know it’s working?

A good clinic will answer all of these without hesitation.

Is chiropractic available on the NHS?

Very rarely. Almost all chiropractic care in the UK is private.

Can I claim on health insurance?

Many private health insurance policies cover chiropractic treatment from a chiropractor registered with the General Chiropractic Council. Check with your provider before booking.

Get back to work, training and a good night’s sleep

If headaches, neck pain or jaw pain keep getting in the way of your day, your first appointment will show you what’s causing it and how to fix it. Treatment can usually begin the same day, so you can get back to working, exercising and sleeping without it hanging over you.
